Subject: 2nd year digital classes
Target audience: 1st years.
Headline: “You Thought It Was Over? Here are 7 Tips to Survive your 2nd Year Digital Classes”
This headline begins with a direct question addressing the reader, and as we discussed in class we shouldn’t be afraid of talking to the web audience. “You Thought It Was Over?” Immediately hooks the target audience by making a question that relates to their current situation. As first years, they probably think that the worst has passed and it can’t get any worse from this point on; however, this headline will catch their attention as it generates curiosity in them taking into account the context in which they are living, the transition from the first year and second year can be anxiety-inducing which this headline takes as an advantage. I considered this would be an attractive headline for the designated audience as it has some humor integrated into it, so first years could feel even more intrigued to click on it. Scarcity and FOMO are used once again as they fit the situation and the target audience, generating concerns and questions in the user’s mind. “Here are 7 Tips” makes a promise of the type of content they will find in the article. Additionally, making use of numbers in the headline makes a clear and quantifiable promise to the user on what kind and how much information they will get.
The information missing would be what aspects of the second-year classes or what classes we are looking to promote on the headline.
